As each singer is an individual with his own needs and personality for learning, so each lesson should be adjusted for the student's ability, goals, practice time and learning speed. If a professional has a studio recording session next week, the lessons need to be something that the artist will be able to assimilate quickly and use in the sessions. If the student is a hobbyist, then a more basic structured program will be beneficial. If there is no great hurry, then the first thing that needs to be accomplished is to learn to sing without straining.

Once this is done, there are three "circles" of learning that will be used depending on what the student's needs are.

I. Vocal technique

II. Expressive singing

III. Performance

There are two basic scientific principles my techniques are based on.

1. Antagonistic Muscle Reaction - Every muscle movement your body makes is accompanied by an opposing muscle group that restricts movement of the primary movement

2. The vocal folds have five different ways to change pitch - The vocal folds must be allowed to choose which combination of the five is the best for each note at any volume.
